The Hype Bros became number one contenders for to the SmackDown Tag Team Championships this past week, but it could have come at a bad time.
Zack Ryder recently underwent reconstructive knee surgery after he suffered an injury on SmackDown on Tuesday night and the news now is that the former Intercontinental Champion could be out of action for between 4 and 6 months.
Ryder himself has been positive on Twitter, stating that he has been through worse than knee surgery, but it means that he and Mojo Rawley may lose their shot at the Tag Team Championships and if he isn’t back in four months then he may also miss WrestleMania.
This will leave the SmackDown Tag Team picture looking slightly bleak over the next few months, but it will be interesting to see who WWE decide to push in the absence of The Hype Bros. American Alpha could now finally be given the chance he deserves, but it does still remain to be seen if it would instead be The Ascension of The Vaudevillians.
