Nick Ayers, a senior adviser to Vice President Pence, is considering a bid for the Georgia governorship, according to a Wednesday Politico report.

After Trump won the presidential election, Ayers also served on the transition team’s executive committee.

Ayers, 34, has never run for public office.
Ayers has not announced plans to enter the race, but according to Politico, people with ties to the White House say Ayers’s possible candidacy is already being discussed.
Ayers declined Politico’s request for comment.
If Ayers decided to run, he would be up against the Republican incumbent, Gov. Nathan Deal, in the primary, along with other GOP contenders. Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced his plans to run Saturday. Politico reports that Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is also expected to join the race.
Ayers will discuss potential plans with top White House officials this week, including Pence, chief strategist Stephen Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus, a person familiar with Ayers’s meetings told Politico.
Ayers helped set up the pro-Trump nonprofit America First Policies, and his departure would be a hit to the organization.
Former White House deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh left the White House last week to help push the nonprofit forward.
