New Japan Pro Wrestling will be invading the 2018 CharaExpo USA convention in Los Angeles on Nov. 10-11th for an event they are calling Lion’s Break Project 1.
ver the last few years the promotion has created a series of events called Lion’s Gate Projects. There have been 13 shows so far, held at a smaller venue than their normal main roster tours, and mainly feature Young Lions (developmental talents training at the NJPW Dojo) in rare singles match against each other, and against more experienced trainers/veteran talents.
With Lion’s Break, they bring the system to the U.S. for the first time for a two-day series of events, piggybacking off an anime convention sponsored by NJPW parent company Bushiroad. There will be four to five matches each day, which we assume will either be streamed live, or later uploaded to New Japan World.
The 11/10 show will be headlined by a special singles match between ROH World TV Champion Jeff Cobb and Hirooki Goto. The 11/11 show will be headlined by IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega taking on the young David Finlay, who has an opportunity of a lifetime to prove himself. Expect to see a lot of talents currently training with Katsuyori Shibata at the new dojo in L.A.
