Earlier today we reported that an 8-man tournament will take place at the upcoming NWA 70th Anniversary pay-per-view in Nashville, TN to crown a brand new NWA National Champion. The title will have its own legacy and its story told through videos on YouTube, much like the Ten Pounds of Gold has since its resurrection.

We can now confirm that the NWA World Women’s Championship, currently held by wrestling legend and two-time WWE Women’s Champion Jazz, will also be defended at the pay-per-view.
The NWA World Women’s Championship was first established in 1935 and has a historic lineage of title holders including Mildred Burke, June Byers and the Fabulous Moolah. Jazz is likely a future Hall of Famer in her own right as a pioneer for women’s wrestling as well as for African American women in wrestling, and has held the world title for nearly 750 days.
Her opponent for the NWA 70th Anniversary show on October 21st will be announced by the end of the week. In the meantime, check out the short video produced on Jazz and her legacy in the media player above.
