As previously reported, NJPW wrestler Harry Smith (better known as Davey Boy Smith Jr.) was wanted by the New Orleans Police Department, in connection to an incident during WrestleMania weekend where the second generation superstar reportedly threw hot coffee into the face of WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts while he was signing autographs at WrestleCon.

Apparently Harry was very upset over previous, disparaging remarks made by Roberts about his father, the late British Bulldog. Jake officially pressed charges for battery and local police even questioned ECW legend Tommy Dreamer about the incident, although an arrest was never made and Smith returned to Japan to kick off the annual New Japan Dontaku tour.

According to SEScoops.com, another wrestling legend in the form of Bret “The Hitman” Hart has stepped in to save the day, setting up a telephone call between the two to resolve the matter. In the aftermath, it looks like both sides are willing to move forward and put the past behind them, as Roberts has agreed to drop all charges. Smith released the following statement via Facebook:

“I’d like to announce publicly and officially that I spoke with Jake Roberts on the phone today and we squashed heat we have for what happened at the WrestleCon event. I apologized and said I would apologize publicly as Jake agreed he would be dropping any charges pressed against me. I’m a man of my word, and I’d like to say sorry to any fans that I stressed with this situation also. I wish Jake all the best and [I am] glad that we squashed this heat. I actually had spoken to Roddy Piper before he passed away about the podcast Jake and he did. I’m certainly glad we worked things out, as Roddy died not long after. We never know what might happen tomorrow, life’s [too]short to hold a grudge. Arigato.”
