With Lionel Messi likely to make his Paris Saint-Germain debut against Reims this coming weekend, the Champagne club have ticket sales skyrocket as they prepare to host the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Speaking to L’Équipe, the club’s ticket office manager Alexandre Jeannin explains that they have already sold out for the fixture, and that 6,000 tickets had already been sold over the weekend before the Argentine’s arrival was made official. Jeannin explains that tickets have been bought from all over the world, with orders being placed from Chile, India, Thailand, Egypt and South Korea.

As for the media, 122 accreditation requests have been made – the record at the Auguste Delaune stadium had been 113, for David Beckham’s third match with the club in 2013 – including the likes of Forbes, the Washington Post, and Argentinian paper Clarín.

There will be an increased police presence around the stadium, while the stadium gates will open at 6pm, rather than the usual 6.45pm. The Reims players themselves have also seen an increase in interview requests, while manager Óscar García – a former Barcelona player – has particularly been in demand.
