RMC Sport report that Ligue 1 side Marseille have, in a phenomenal u-turn, decided to pull a professional contract offer for 17-year-old attacking youth academy prospect Issac Lihadji.
The player’s entourage, who is understood to be entertaining offers from Valencia, Lille and Arsenal too, was informed this morning by OM Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta.
Marseille had grown tired with what they viewed to be the greedy nature of the player’s representatives’ demands and the amount of time talks were taking.
The club had been very close to an agreement with the player before the recent U17s World Cup, but felt now that their most recent offer was already very big and that they had made maximum effort to make a deal happen.
A source close to the OM youth academy had the following to say on the situation: “It was much easier to get (Maxime) Lopez or (Boubacar) Kamara to sign pro contracts because without a doubt that they had more desire to sign for OM, in this one it has become too complicated.”
The outlet also reports that Borussia Dortmund have recently been in contact with the teenager.
