Marseille have completed the signing of Aston Villa full back Jordan Amavi on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy at the end of the deal for a fee believed to be around €8m.

The 23-year-old joined Aston Villa in 2015 from Ligue 1 side Nice for £10m, but various injuries curtailed the promising full backs good start to life in England, with a cruciate ligament injury forcing him to sit out the second half of the 2015 Premier League campaign.

But when Steve Bruce was appointed manager, Amavi found himself fit and out of favour, which didn’t help his chances of a transfer. However, when Sevilla came calling this summer, the 23-year-old seemed all set to leave Villa Park before a failed medical meant the deal was called off.

Marseille, however, have swooped in and have signed a great full back to work alongside Patrice Evra. If Amavi can stay fit, OM and Rudi Garcia will have one of the best signings of the Ligue 1 season and a very capable left back.
