This season, London Fashion Week will see more menswear. The British Fashion Council announced a new menswear initiative that will showcase thirteen menswear design talents in London on Wednesday 25th February 2009. This has grown out of the success of Man, a joint partnership between Topman1 and Fashion East2, which for the past eight seasons has presented British menswear design talent during London Fashion Week. Man will be first on the catwalk, at 2pm, in the BFC Tent in the grounds of the Natural History Museum.
Man has been actively involved in raising the profile of new British menswear designers to an international audience. In recognition of this success, Fashion East’s Lulu Kennedy and Topman have, with the support from the British Fashion Council and the London Development Agency, curated London Fashion Week’s first dedicated menswear line-up.
Hilary Riva, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council commented: “We are delighted to support this exciting initiative showcasing menswear talent at London Fashion Week.”
The showcase will take place over the afternoon of the 25th of February 2009, with Man first on the catwalk, at 2pm, in the grounds of the Natural History Museum. On show will be British designer Carolyn Massey, new directional knitwear label Sibling, Royal Collage of Art MA Menswear/Accessories graduate James Long, and minimal avant garde label SOAR to name a few.
