The Kering Foundation is now taking its White Ribbon Initiative digital.

The six year-long campaign is continuing its efforts to end gender-based violence through Nov. 25: the international day for the elimination of violence against women. And it has called on some of the biggest names in fashion and Hollywood to do it, with Kering Foundation Board Director Salma Hayek, Stella McCartney, Alessandro Michele, Christopher Kane, Dennis Chan, and Joseph Altuzarra all participating in the initiative. (You can join the campaign at icoulhavebeen.org.)

Each fashion guru is raising awareness by sharing his or her own personal story with the #ICouldHaveBeen hashtag—thinking of a world in which they might have been a victim of gender-based violence or a woman.

“When parents are expecting a child, they think of various names,” read an informative message with Hayek’s campaign image. “We all have a girl name that was destined for us. We all could have been born a girl. Your name may be James, Alessandro or Wei. But you could have been Olivia, Chiara, or Lì. We all could have been HER: the one in three girls and women who experience violence.”

“We as women are a team, we have to support each other and stick together,” McCartney shared. “Men are showing their support, and now we must all join forces. I am confident that the younger generation of women and men will use their voice and stop the violence.”
