Selena Gomez is back, and better than ever. After a three-month long hiatus, where she worked on her own mental and emotional health, Gomez re-emerged at the 2016 AMAs, where she gave a heartfelt speech after winning the award for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, thanking her loyal fans for their unending support, and telling the crowd, “if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. That’s one thing you should know about me: I care about people. And this is for you.”

Since the AMAs, she’s kept relatively quiet, but most recently, completed a questionnaire with Thrive Global, Ariana Huffington’s new company that promotes “emotional and physical well-being in the workplace.”

Gomez gave some insight on her new morning routine, telling Thrive that she “drink[s] water, stretch[es], and take[s] a deep breath,” as soon as she gets out of bed. “I recently took 90 days off,” she shared when asked about her relationship with her phone. “During that time I did not have my cellphone. It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me.”

When asked what she would do if she happens to find an extra 15 minutes in her day, she said “self-affirmations in cooking or napping!” Later, the “Hands to Myself” singer shared one of her favorite quotes, that we’re sure she uses in her self-affirmations, and now you can, too: “You are not what happened to you, you are what you chose to become after what happened to you.”

We are loving Gomez’s calm, cool, and collected vibes, and love even more that she gets the importance of unplugging, and just being.
