A journalist has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh for clicking photographs of children mopping the floor in their school. On September 9, the Azamgarh district magistrate ordered a probe into the arrest. The news comes a few days after a jounalist was arrested for exposing food being served to school children in UP.
The journalist was arrested on false charges of extortion and obstructing public servants from discharging their duty, a fellow journalist Sudhir Singh claimed. He, along with other journalists, met District Magistrate NP Singh to apprise him of the alleged illegal arrest.
“No injustice will be meted out to the journalist. We will look into the matter,” Azamgarh DM NP Singh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
