Chandrani Murmu, a 25-year-old engineering graduate and Biju Janata Dal candidate has scripted history. Hailing from Odisha, Murmu is the youngest Member of Parliament to the 17th Lok Sabha. She represents tribal-dominated Keonjhar.
Murmu, who is 25 years, 11 months and nine days old, was elected as MP from the Keonjhar seat in Odisha.
She got 5.26 lakh votes while her competitor Nayak got 4.60 lakh votes.
Chandrani, granddaughter of a former MP, says she wants to put her best foot forward in fulfilling the expectations by the youth and women besides the tribals in her region. Talking to media, she said she wants to focus on delivery of results instead of making tall promises that can’t be kept.
