DENVER, CO — Radio host and former prosecutor Craig Silverman says he’s been fired from his job hosting a show on Denver’s KNUS. The firing happened mid-show on Saturday, he says.
Silverman, the former chief deputy district attorney in Denver, had hosted a show on the radio station for the past five years.
He was doing a segment on the late Roy Cohn, one of the masterminds behind the Red Scare in the 1950s and a former lawyer for Donald Trump during the 1970s.
Silverman says that he he had been criticizing President Trump when the show was interrupted by a broadcast of network news. He says that the station’s program director came through the door and told him he was done.
He’s written about the firing on both his Twitter and Facebook feeds.
“I cannot and will not toe strict Trump party line,” Silverman wrote on Twitter after the firing. “I call things as I see them. I see corruption and blatant dishonesty by President and his cronies. I also see bullying/smearing of American heroes w/courage to take oath and tell truth. Their bravery inspires me.”
The day before, Silverman had praised former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Maria Yovanovitch, calling her “an American hero.”
Neither KNUS nor its owner, Salem Media Group, have commented – in response to messages from Patch or on their websites – on Silverman’s departure.
