International volleyball federation has sent letter to all national federation. Sugggested proposal of three foreigners has changed! New rule is worse for the foreign players.
FIVB first proposition was to have nine local players and three players coming from other National Federations, allowing only two players coming from other National Federations, simultaneously, on the court at the same time. Now the situation has changed with a letter to federations.
From the letter: "Starting from the season 2008/2009 only two players possessing an ITC may play on court at the same time…Only for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons the NF concerned may authorise on court one more player with ITC." Read full letter. On 12th May FIVB board will discuss the need to determine a limited number of ITCs per club.
This rule is not very correct, there is not much time for the clubs to react, just four month before next season they have adapt to this rule. Some clubs has signed contract with more then two foreigners in the past, some players has longer contract with club. Italian, French and German league are already making steps to solve this situation.
