Four current North Dakota State wrestlers have won at least one Bison Open individual title entering this weekend … NDSU redshirt seniors Cordell Eaton and Andrew Fogarty each have won three — Eaton all at 197 pounds, and Fogarty one at 157 and two at 165 pounds … Redshirt junior Sam Hampton won at 141 pounds in 2017 … Redshirt senior Dan Stibral won at 285 in 2017 … NDSU has had at least one wrestler earn a Bison Open title in 11 of the past 12 seasons.

North Dakota State won 7 of 10 matches including a tech fall from No. 12-ranked 133-pounder Cam Sykora and major decision from 125 McGwire Midkiff to defeat Cal State Bakersfield 24-9 in a non-conference dual on Nov. 3 in front of 489 spectators at the Scheels Center … It was the 34th career tech fall for Sykora …Other winners included 184 TJ Pottinger, 285 Brandon Metz, 141 Sawyer Degen, 157 Jared Franek and 165 Andrew Fogarty.

Bison Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Fuller Honored Before CSUB Dual
North Dakota State 167, 174-pounder Todd Fuller was a three-time NCAA Division II national champion for Hall of Fame head coach Bucky Maughan, a member of two national championship teams in 2000 and 2001, and the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA national tournament. He was inducted into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2019.

NDSU Places 11 on the Academic All-Big 12 Conference Wrestling Team
North Dakota State placed 11 student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling team. Redshirt senior 184 Tyler McNutt was a three-time second-team pick before moving up to the first team in 2019. NDSU 197-pounder Cordell Eaton and 157 Nick Knutson both registered 4.0 grade point averages the previous two semesters and were two of 10 Bison wrestlers named to the first team. Eaton is a three-time selection, while Knutson made the jump to the first team this year. Joining McNutt, Eaton and Knutson on the first team are 125 Paul Bianchi, 141 Sawyer Degen, 285 Brandon Metz, 141 Taylor Nein, 174 Jesse Shearer, 285 Dan Stibral and 149 Gavin Sutton. Bianchi and Stibral are both two-time selections. NDSU 133 Cam Sykora was named to the second team.
