BURNSVILLE, Minn.- Augustana wrestling earned the No. 2 spot in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason coaches poll the league announced on Thursday morning.

The Vikings earned 47 points in the poll while last year’s champion St. Cloud State was picked to finish first earning 76 points. Minnesota State, Upper Iowa and MSU Moorhead round out the top five in the conference.

Individually, Aero Amo was ranked first at 184 pounds in the NSIC. TJ North (125), Jeremiah Peterson (141), Jacob Anderson (149), Shawn Hatlestad (157) and Tim Weber (174) were all ranked second in their weight class.

Michael Lowman (285) was ranked fourth. Lane Lettau (197) was ranked sixth. David Potratz (133) and Bruce Lemon Jr. (165) were ranked seventh in their weight class.

Last year Augustana went 7-1 in NSIC action, with the only loss to conference champion St. Cloud State in the last dual of the season.

The Vikings will begin their season at the Daktronics Open at Frost Arena in Brookings, S.D. on Sunday, Nov. 1.
