Le Parisien report that Saudi Arabian entrepreneur Al Waleed bin-Talal has no interest in buying Ligue 1 side Marseille from current owner Frank McCourt, contrary to a myriad of Italian press reporting.
With his worth estimated at more than €17bn, OM fans had been hoping that there was even a kernel of truth behind these claims, but the above outlet are reaffirming Marseille President Eyraud’s position on the claims from an interview back on 15th May with RMC that these suggestions were: “fake news.”
A source close to the the sheikh had the following to say to La Provence: “McCourt does not want to sell the club and, if it was ever the case, Al-Waleed would not buy it… I repeat: Al-Waleed is an unfounded rumour. He doesn’t like football.”.
