It was confirmed in a press release from Impact Wrestling earlier today that their parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment has officially acquired Global Force Wrestling. Jeff Jarrett is going to be joining the Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions now as an equity owner, manager, and as the Chief Creative Officer. Both Jeff and Karen Jarrett are going to be working for Anthem is prominent roles, and the wrestling company has now been completely overtaken by the company. Anthem also purchased TNA Wrestling back in January. They changed the promotion’s name to Impact Wrestling, and have promoted the relaunch of the wrestling show ever since.
When TNA Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett originally left his company in 2014, he attempted to launch a new wrestling promotion called Global Force Wrestling. Jarrett successfully managed to acquire talent and tape shows for television on a few different occasions. Unfortunately, he was never able to secure a TV deal that would air episodes of Global Force Wrestling, and many of the wrestlers involved decided to leave when no proper updates were being given. Jarrett returned to Impact Wrestling earlier this year, he has teased that both Impact and Global Force were “becoming one day by day.” Global Force was officially acquired on June 28th, 2017.
If you’ve been following the television show on Pop TV, then you would know that GFW and Impact have actually been merged together since April in storyline. Today, that was made official thanks to Impact Wrestling’s press release. Jeff’s wife Karen commented by saying: “We are thrilled to be joining forces with Anthem as a partner to build the business. This partnership will be complementary of our strengths and bolster our capabilities to grow the Impact Wrestling brand. Ed Nordholm as President and Jeff Jarrett as Chief Creative Officer make a great tag team.” Impact will be airing their Slammiversary XV pay-per-view this Sunday, and it will be headlined by Alberto El Patron facing Lashley in a title unification match for the Impact and GFW world titles.
