NEW ORLEANS, LA — An arrest warrant for Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been rescinded, according to a report. A judge had originally signed a warrant for simple battery on Thursday morning after Beckham reportedly was seen on video appearing to touch a security guard during LSU’s post-National Championship game celebration Monday.
News of warrant’s cancellation was tweeted by Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, who also said the security guard involved in the incident decided not to press charges.
Beckham, an LSU alum, first made headlines for his National Championship game antics when he handed out wads of cash to some of LSU’s football players after their victory over Clemson. Then, in a video leaked this week, Beckham is seen appearing to make contact with a security guard.
The security guard initially filed charges against Beckham, ESPN said. New Orleans police saw the video and decided to pursue simple battery charges against Beckham, according to NOLA.com.
The Cleveland Browns released a statement on Thursday afternoon, saying, “We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter. They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation.”
