As we have been reporting for the past week, the Survivor Series Champion vs Champion non-title match, featuring Brock Lesnar vs Jinder Mahal, is very likely getting a special guest referee.

One of the names being rumored for the role is John Cena, who is off WWE TV at the moment as he is currently filming a new movie and cannot wrestle. The idea of using Cena in the match is so that Brock Lesnar will have a high profile name to be in the ring with, and it brings Cena back to TV without him having to wrestle.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon is also considering reaching out to Steve Austin and The Rock to be the special guest referee for the match. Whether or not Rock or Austin would agree to the match is a totally separate issue, with Rock’s schedule likely not allowing it and Austin potentially having no interest.

The idea with the two legends being the referee remains the same as if Cena is used, as in it would be intriguing to see Brock Lesnar in the ring with either Rock or Austin. The report noted, however that a match between Brock Lesnar or The Rock or Austin, stemming from Survivor Series, would be highly unlikely given Austin is retired and The Rock’s schedule is entirely too full right now.
