The La Liga champions are set to face off against Roma in their second match of the ICC, while the Italian side ready for life without two key players
Barcelona and Roma will face off in the International Champions Cup at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday as both clubs look to wrap up their pre-season tour of the United States.
The two European sides will both play their second ICC fixture against each other, with Barcelona buoyed by their penalty shootout win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday while Roma will be aiming to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat against the same side.
New Barcelona signing Malcom got off the mark for the Spanish champions by netting in the ensuing penalty shootout, and Roma will be needing to prepare for life without goalkeeper Alisson following his blockbuster move to Liverpool.

New signing Malcom, who was handed a substitute appearance in the last fixture against Spurs, is in line to make his first start in the Barcelona XI against Roma. Ernesto Valverde will no doubt be eager to prepare for the new season of club football as he eyes a wide-open gap in La Liga following Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational move from Real Madrid to Juventus – giving the Catalan side a chance to easily defend their title.
Additionally, the meeting marks an encounter between the two sides who both equally could have signed Malcom this summer – as Roma very nearly landed the deal before Barcelona made a last-minute swoop for the midfielder.
Currently, however, the La Liga champions are without a host of their stars in Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho due to their extended participation in the World Cup this summer.
Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti are not involved in the pre-season tournament, which gives an opportunity to the young academy graduates.
Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes are expected to carry the creative weight from midfield while Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi will be tasked with going forward.
In addition to Malcom, there is sure to be focus on new Barcelona arrival Clement Lenglet, who recently signed for £31.7m. Barcelona players Munir El Haddadi and Arthur both netted against Spurs, but their defensive woes were apparent when the North London side applied more pressure up front.
Roma face an uneasy challenge in Serie A as they will look to better the 18-point gap that was left between them and Juventus, who won the league. They will also have to make do without star goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Nainggolan in their squad, as well as denying rivals Lazio to a spot in the top four.
