Chris Jericho suffered a dislocated left elbow on the landing from his fall off the top of the cage in the May 5th AEW Blood & Guts match.
Bryan Alvarez first discussed the injury on Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Live, initially thinking it was a fracture.
Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he presumes Jericho will be part of the Stadium Stampede match at this month’s Double or Nothing. “Otherwise, he’s out four-to-six weeks,” Meltzer wrote.
At the end of Blood & Guts, MJF pushed Jericho off the top of the cage onto the stage which Jericho said on his Wednesday podcast was set up with a six foot crash pad, cardboard boxes and a covering that looked like staging.
Jericho didn’t say anything about the injury on the podcast where he went into detail on all things Blood & Guts. He said he was nervous about the fall all day, but was very happy with how everything turned out despite the criticism afterward on how it looked on camera. The 50-year-old also said he would never do a fall like that again.
One week after the fall, Jericho returned to Dynamite with his left elbow heavily taped up and in a brace. He and The Inner Circle crashed The Pinnacle’s coronation party, spraying them down with a giant hose. MJF then challenged the group to a Stampede match with a stipulation that if The Inner Circle loses, they split up forever. They have yet to accept in storyline.
