— The Hardeman County Sheriff’s office has issued a statement regarding the death of former WWE wrestler, Brian Christopher Lawler, who passed away yesterday at age 46. According to Sheriff John Doolen, when Lawler was taken into custody on 7/6 for DUI, they had no indication that he was suicidal and thus, he was not placed under any sort of suicide watch.
— Christopher was however placed in solitary confinement in a jail cell due to his “notoriety”, which obviously was due to being so famous in the Memphis area for his wrestling background and family.
— Officers found Christopher hanging in his cell on Saturday evening and immediately began giving him CPR. They had him transported to office in critical condition and there, it was revealed that he wasn’t going to make it. He was officially taken off of life support Sunday at approximately 4:40 PM ET after his father, Jerry Lawler, was able to come and visit him.
— As noted yesterday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has opened up an investigation at the request of the State Attorney’s office.
At the request of 25th District Attorney General Mark Davidson, TBI Special Agents are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving an inmate at the Hardeman County Jail. On Saturday evening, Brian C. Lawler (DOB 1/10/72) was found hanging in his cell. Corrections officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived. Lawler was transported to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis where he died Sunday afternoon. Preliminary information indicates the incident does not involve foul play. However, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Lawler was booked into the Hardeman County Jail on July 7th on charges of DUI, Driving on Revoked, and Evading Arrest.
