As reported by RMC, Reims striker Hugo Ekitike’s future remains in flux with the player holding off on making a decision over joining Newcastle with various other clubs showing their interest too, notably PSG.

The 19-year-old striker managed 10 goals in 23 Ligue 1 games this season, despite struggling with various absences through injury and suspension, after being approached by Newcastle, and others, in January too.

Having turned down Newcastle in the winter, the player has warmed to the idea of moving to St. James’ Park with a contract and fee now agreed. However, Ekitike is making Eddie Howe and Co. wait and has been pondering the move for several days as he waits for all possible opportunities to arrive before making a final call.

PSG have advanced their interest in the player following Luis Campos’ arrival as sporting director but the Paris club are waiting to appoint a new coach before progressing further, several German clubs are also part of the equation but are unlikely to be able to compete financially. Bayern Munich were reported as interested last month.

Fearing the deals collapse, Newcastle have already started to look at other targets despite having agreed a €36m fee plus €10m in bonuses for the teenage Frenchman.
