Ireland to appeal Apple tax bill

Commission hit tech giant with €13 billion fine.

The Irish government Friday confirmed it will appeal the tax bill of up to €13 billion, plus interest, the European Commission hit Apple with this week.

Ireland will seek the endorsement of the Irish parliament Wednesday, Reuters reported.

European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager announced Tuesday that Ireland’s tax deals with Apple violated EU state aid rules. Apple also plans to appeal.
