Jon Moxley is no longer the IWGP United States Champion for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), as a new champion was crowned on Monday after the former champion and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star vacated the title.

Lance Archer, who filled-in as a substitute for Moxley in his scheduled rematch against Juice Robinson at the NJPW King Of Pro Wrestling event, captured the IWGP U.S. Title when he blasted Robinson with his Blackout finisher on a pile of steel chairs, and then applied the Iron Claw to pick up the victory.

Once the match was over, David Finlay made his NJPW return and attacked Archer with a pair of stunners.

Finlay has been out of action for the majority of 2019 following a shoulder operation he underwent. His last match prior to the surgery was back in February.

As far as Moxley is concerned, the AEW star was unable to appear at the NJPW KOPW event due to travel issues stemming from Typhoon Hagibis that hit Japan over the weekend.

New Japan announced the news just hours before the show that Moxley was not only unable to appear as advertised, but that he has been stripped of the IWGP U.S. Championship.
