Speaking to L’Équipe du Soir, Cameroonian international and Villarreal attacker Karl Toko Ekambi’s agent Samir Khiat discussed his client’s situation, who spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Lyon, where he would like to move permanently.
“I confirm that there was an option to buy if Lyon had qualified either for the Europa League or the Champions’ League for next season, but not for the qualifying stages, I should make that clear. Now, the desire is still identical. Lyon are happy with the player, the player is happy with the project offered by Lyon. The president has said to you during the show that Lyon will certainly make a loss like the other French clubs, but you should know that Lyon have over the course of the last 3 years made between €60m and €75m in profit pre-tax, so I don’t think they will be the hardest hit French club. Today, everyone is in the same boat. Everyone wants the same thing to happen. There will be exchanges, there is no certainty, but everything is open to find a solution so that the player can remain.”
