Kushida has made his main roster debut for WWE, appearing on tonight’s episode of 205 Live.
He was the mystery tag team partner for Jack Gallagher, as they teamed up to take on the team of Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick. Kushida picked up the win, submitting Kendrick with the Sakuraba lock, which was formerly the hoverboard lock.
Kushida signed with WWE earlier this year, appearing in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: New York. Since then, he’s worked under the NXT brand, appearing sporadically on their television and wrestling on their house shows.
He also appeared for EVOLVE recently, facing WWE Cruiserweight champion Drew Gulak at EVOLVE 134 for the title in a losing effort.
Prior to his signing, Kushida had been one of the featured acts in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s junior heavyweight division, winning the IWGP Jr. title six times. He wrestled his final match with the promotion on January 29 in a losing effort against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
