L’Équipe are reporting that Turkish side Fenerbahçe have reached a deal for the signing of Reims’ Nathanaël Mbuku (20), but the player’s wish is to remain at the Ligue 1 club.

As a result, Mbuku looks set to remain in France, despite an agreement on a €4m deal being reached with Fenerbahçe. The French U21 international winger is yet to feature for Stade de Reims this season, but he is not interested in a move. That decision put a swift end to negotiations between the clubs.

Mbuku, who came through the ranks at Reims, has made 78 appearances for the club’s first team, scoring six goals during that time. His contract expires next summer, so a decision on his long-term future will have to be made this season.

Turkish clubs are still able to sign players due to the transfer window closing this Thursday. Many of the major markets in Europe have already closed. One deal that does look like happening is Mauro Icardi’s (29) loan move to Galatasaray.
