Rennes have announced the signing of Czech international goalkeeper Tomas Koubek for a fee which has yet to be officially confirmed on a four-year-deal.
The 25-year-old joins from Czech side Sparta Praha and will likely become to official first choice replacement for former goalkeeper Benoit Costil, he left the club in the off season.
Koubek had been the first choice goalkeeper for Sparta Praha last season as they reached the last-16 of last seasons Europa League, where Koubek played eight times. Koubek also 23 appearances in the HET Liga, keeping 11 clean sheets and 15 in all competitions.
Koubek isn’t the first Czech goalkeeper to make the move from Praha to Rennes, following in the footsteps of former Chelsea shot stopper Petr Cech, he made the switch in 2002 before joining the London club.
