OGC Nice have been bluffing to the media for weeks: their number one transfer target in the striker position has been Liverpool man Mario Balotelli for over 10 days, according to sources contacted by GFFN.

The reality of the situation is as follows: Palermo, Balotelli’s previously preferred option, cannot agree a deal with Liverpool after over five days of trying and are also not able to offer Balotelli the salary that Nice can.

At the time of writing, no agreement has been reached between any of the three parties. OGC Nice want Liverpool to loan them the player, despite the fact that the player’s contract with Liverpool is understood to expire at the end of the season.

If Liverpool do not agree to that, then Nice will consider signing the player permanently but only if the Reds cover a considerable portion of the player’s salary for at least the next 12 months.

A deal remains very difficult.

Nice will also attempt to sign an attacking midfielder before the window closes tomorrow.

Contrary to claims from Nice Matin, GFFN has been informed that Clément Grenier remains an individual that Les Aiglons are pursuing in these final hours of the summer transfer window.
