Le Parisien report this morning that both French internationl midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Paul Pogba are targets for their midfield recruitment this summer.
The club will first look to offload some of the midfield options which have disappointed this campaign and left Marco Verratti bearing the sole responsibility for the team’s play in the middle all season.
The priority is Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni, who on top of being homegrown as a Bordeaux academy graduate fits the bill as a technically proficient midfielder able to cause trouble in the opposition box as well as being reliable in his interceptions.
However, the French international’s price could be between the €80m and €100m mark, a figure which even with the Financial Fair Play reforms to be passed tomorrow would be a tough ask for PSG.
They also find themselves in competition with Real Madrid, who are looking to rejuvenate their squad by bringing in Tchouaméni along with Kylian Mbappé. The player himself has also said in private that he would rather make a move abroad.

Should he join, though, he would form part of a midfield trio with Marco Verratti which could be completed by the arrival of Paul Pogba, who has not kept his desire to join PSG a secret. The World Cup winner would come in as a midfielder able to bring something to the table offensively and allow Marco Verratti to establish himself in his deeper position.
The club are nevertheless wary when it comes to the Manchester United man, not least due to his agent Mino Raiola and the fact that last summer’s free transfers – Ramos, Wijnaldum, Lionel Messi – have not necessarily been resounding successes. There are also doubts as to whether he would fit in Mauricio Pochettino’s system based on fast attacking transitions. His frequent injuries and inconsistent form are also a worry.
