Despite the Argentine being told several weeks ago that he would no longer be managing the team, talks are said to have dragged on as the Ligue 1 champions were looking to lower the amount that he would be receinving.
In the end, a compromise has been made, with Pochettino and his staff having tried to hold out for the entirety of their salaries for the final year of their contracts.
Pochettino’s departure after 18 months in charge, for which the documents have reportedly been signed this Thursday, will now open the door to Christophe Galtier’s move from Nice being made official, with pre-season starting next Monday.
For the latter, an agreement was reached over a two-year contract last week, with the club already having bought out the final two campaigns on his contract with Les Aiglons, which was terminated just a year after his arrival from Nice.
