The global charity set up by Sir Richard Branson to promote peace and human rights is leasing its London headquarters from a company ultimately owned by the Sultan of Brunei, the Daily Telegraph can disclose.
The Elders, which Virgin boss Sir Richard co-founded with Nelson Mandela and musician-cum-activist Peter Gabriel 12 years ago, brings together former world leaders including Ban Ki-moon and Jimmy Carter to combat inequality, exclusion and injustice.
Sir Richard and Mr Gabriel, who contributed funds to begin the project and remain donors, sit on the advisory council of the charity, which it can be revealed even occupies the same building as the Sultan’s sovereign wealth fund, the Brunei Investment…
