As noted, WWE held a set of NXT television tapings at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida on Wednesday evening.

During the taping, the confusion surrounding the status of the NXT World Championship was cleared up. Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared to open the taping and announced that due to being sidelined while recovering from a recent neck surgery, Tommaso Ciampa has been stripped and the title is now vacant.

A match was announced for the taping that would consist of Ricochet, Adam Cole, Aleister Black, Velveteen Dream and Matt Riddle, with the winner going on to face Johnny Gargano in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at the NXT TakeOver: New York special during WrestleMania 35 weekend.

When the dust settled, Adam Cole emerged victorious and will face-off against Johnny Gargano for the vacant NXT World Championship in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at next month’s live special.

NXT TakeOver: New York is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 5th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, streaming live via the WWE Network. Make sure to join us here at Rajah.com on 4/6 for live play-by-play results coverage of the show.
