Competing in the 2004 Olympics while needing corrective foot surgery, Marblehead, MA native Shalane Flanagan ran 2005 in pain and took 2006 off. Her revised post-surgery training has paid huge dividends over the past two years and most recently delivered an American record at 10,000m as she readies for the US Trials and beyond.

Kasabet, Kenya’s Peter Kosgei arrived at Hamilton College, a D3 liberal arts school in Clinton, NY, versed in academics but short on track or cross country training. He now owns every school record from 800m to 5,000m and has won five national titles. The best is yet to come-he’s just a sophomore.
