T-Pain had an awkward first encounter with Taylor Swift — and he recalled the cringeworthy moment at iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday night.

The “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” rapper was hosting the event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles when he addressed Swift in the audience.

“Taylor, I never apologized to you,” he began. “The first time we met — you’re so much taller than me, that I thought you were standing on something.”

“Without looking down, I tried to stand on whatever I thought you were standin’ on and — bam! Headbutted you right in the boob,” he joked. “I’m so sorry. That was not my intention.”

Swift, 29, appeared to take the reminiscence with good humor, chuckling along with the 33-year-old MC, but some of her fans were less forgiving. Some were quick to point out on social media that Swift had been involved in a lengthy sexual assault lawsuit, from which she emerged victorious in the summer of 2017.

Others simply felt the personal story was in bad taste.

And more pointed out moments when Swift seemed less than pleased by the reference.

The night would get better for Swift, who took home the award for best music video for “Delicate,” as well as tour of the year. Accepting the honor for her smash Reputation Stadium tour, she gently shut down any theories that her follow-up to 2017 smash Reputation was imminent.

However, she promised to bring everyone up to speed once it’s ready.

“I love your passion, I love your attention to detail, I love how much you care. I love seeing all the things you’re posting online. I just wanted to let you know that when there is new music, you will be the first to know,” she cheekily told the crowd.

Following an introduction by pal Maren Morris, Swift was quick to acknowledge the role her fans played in the success of her tour.

“One of the most wonderful things about the way that this whole tour turned out is that for like, the entire six months leading up to the first show of this tour, every headline that I read was — ‘This is going to be a massive failure’ [or] ‘This is going to be a flop tour.’ And it really did wonders for my self-esteem,” she deadpanned. “It was really great to hear people saying that I was going to be playing to nearly empty stadiums.”

Swift continued: “I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned a lot. And one of the things I’ve learned is that life is really unpredictable and people can make forecasts and they can make predictions, but those predictions and forecasts may not come true if there is an unforeseeable factor involved, and that unforeseeable factor, in this case, was my fans.”

The “….Ready for It?” singer’s record-breaking 2018 tour ultimately became the highest-grossing tour by a woman, with two million tickets sold in the United States and $266 million in sales.

“I honestly owe everything, everything in my life to you. I want to thank you if you came out and saw the show in perfect weather, or if you came to one of our many rain shows that we had. And also if you just watched the show on Netflix on your couch with your dog! You guys were the reason why this tour — you’re the only reason why this tour — wasn’t a massive failure and why it ended up being the highest-selling tour in U.S. history — that’s you.”
