Triple H joined Corey Graves for WWE’s After The Bell this week where he discussed the current state of the U.K. independent wrestling scene.
Many U.K. independent companies have shut down over the past couple of years, with many conversations being had about NXT UK’s role in that taking place. This was something Triple H openly addressed during the recent interview.
“I think all of that is important in that feeder system of what the business is. People misunderstood when we went to the U.K. what we were trying to accomplish there because of small thinking or short-sightedness. Yes, some of these indies are going to go away.”
Triple H continued, stating exactly why certain companies have faded away since the rise of NXT UK.
“The ones that are going to go away are the ones that were paying you 25 bucks when they promised 75. The ones that had a ring that didn’t hold up, the ones that didn’t have medical there, the ones that didn’t care about you, they were just booking you to sell some tickets and you had a little buzz. We wanted to work with the ones that were encouraging them to become better, giving them guidance, that had equipment, that had medical care. All those things were important and they were the ones we started to partner with.”
