Finn Balor is getting another shot at Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.

Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Balor at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view on Sunday, September 26. The announcement comes after Reigns retained the title against Balor on SmackDown last week.

Before that Reigns vs. Balor title match on SmackDown, there was an angle where The Usos attacked Balor with the steel steps. Balor chose to continue with the match despite the attack. Balor looked to be on the verge of winning after hitting the Coup de Grace, but Reigns hit a low blow to kick out. The finish of the match was Balor passing out in a guillotine.

WWE appeared to tease the return of Balor’s Demon character when the lights briefly turned red and a heartbeat played after the Reigns vs. Balor match.

WWE is also building to an eventual Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match. After confronting Reigns at SummerSlam last month, Lesnar will appear on this Friday’s episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden.

Reigns has been Universal Champion for more than a year. He defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match to win the title at Payback in August 2020.

Extreme Rules is taking place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:
