Dragon Wrestling Falls to No. 10 Upper Iowa, 38-6
FAYETTE, Iowa — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team dropped a 38-6 dual at No. 10 Upper Iowa in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Sunday in Fayette, Iowa.
MSUM fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC with the loss while Upper Iowa improved to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the league.
Senior Zach Scott recorded his second win by fall of the week for MSUM, pinned Upper Iowa’s Jacob Nichel in 6:46 to account for the six Dragon points.
MSUM was down 18-0 after the first three weights, which included two wins by fall and a forfeit.
The Dragons lost three 1-point matches on the day — at 157 Mac Spotts edged MSUM junior Tell Ward, 1-0, while at 174 Jamie Gehling edged Dragon sophomore Evan Foster 3-2.
At 285, Triston Westerlund edged Dragon junior Jordan Magnuson, 2-1.
MSUM’s next action is Thursday vs. No. 1 St. Cloud State. That dual will take place in Pierz, Minn.
