US lingerie and lifestyle label has quietly renamed its Perfect ‘Body’
bra range after being hit with an online outcry which saw thousands of
people signing a Change.org petition demanding an apology from the
brand.

The slogan for Victoria’s Secret now reads: “A Body for Every Body,”
and can be seen on the label website. The original advertorial
campaign featured toned models posing in numerous bras which promised
their wearers the perfect “Body.”

However campaigners argued the slogan sent a dangerous message to
women around the world, and over 28,000 people signed the petition on
Change.org, which asked the label to “apologise and take
responsibility for the unhealthy and damaging message that their
Perfect ‘Body’ campaign” sent out.

A week after the petition kicked off, Victoria’s Secret has changed
the name of its campaign. “Amazing news – Victoria’s Secret have
changed the wording on their website from the Perfect ‘Body’ to ‘A
Body For Every Body’,” wrote the petition founders, students Frances
Black, Gabriella Kountourides and Laura Ferris from Leeds.

“This is amazing news! We were not notified by Victoria’s Secret or
the press about this, we found it out ourselves. However the campaign
is NOT over! We still want them to change all of the posters in their
stores, apologize and pledge to not use such harmful marketing in the
future. So let’s keep spreading the word,” added the petitioners.

Victoria’s Secret has yet to officially apologize or acknowledge the
campaign and a number of posters across the UK and US are said to
still bear the original slogan.
