2016 WWE Hall of Fame headliner Sting (Steve Borden) made it sound like he struggled with the decision to retire from wrestling all the way until his HOF speech at the end of Saturday’s ceremony.

In a post-speech interview on WWE’s website, Sting said that he “battled it all the way up until the last minute, as to whether or not I was going to retire.”

“It just makes sense right now. I don’t want to,” Sting added to interviewer Tom Phillips. “Every wrestler is ‘one more match, one more match.’ Although I do believe wholeheartedly I could do it, I just think that it’s time for me to put my boots in the middle of the ring.”

Sting also reflected on being part of the Hall of Fame surrounded by fans, close friends, and family in his “home state” since he lives in the Dallas, Texas area now. Sting joked that he chose not to do a “cheap pop” during his speech, though.
