Last night’s Raw featured an angle where Matt Hardy was viciously attacked by Randy Orton for the second straight week.

A no holds barred match between Hardy and Orton was advertised for the show, but it didn’t end up happening. Orton instead opened Raw with a promo where he announced that Hardy wasn’t able to compete. He said Hardy was in the back still trying to get cleared, but that wasn’t going to happen.

Hardy then interrupted Orton. He came out wearing a neck brace and said he came to the show to fight. Hardy said that — while the doctors wouldn’t clear him to wrestle last night — he’s a man of his word. Just like Edge, he has grit.

After Hardy got into the ring with him, Orton called Hardy a sitting duck and asked him what he would do if Orton decided to RKO him right there. He said Hardy has balls, but no one will understand why Orton did what he did to Edge. Orton said he respects Hardy — but Orton not only respects Edge, he loves him like a brother. Orton then said he was sorry and left the ring.

Orton got to the stage before deciding to go back to the ring. Hardy got a steel chair, but Orton ducked away from being hit with it. He gave Hardy an RKO and attacked him with the chair.

Orton set up for a con-chair-to but didn’t go through with it. He then brought Hardy outside of the ring instead, put his head against the steel steps, and laid Hardy out with two con-chair-tos before yelling that he was sorry. The angle ended with Hardy being stretchered out.
