L’Équipe report that Xherdan Shaqiri has reached an agreement with Chicago Fire ahead of a transfer from Lyon, and will not travel with the team to Monaco for their match this weekend.
Lyon, who announced tonight that they had accepted the Swiss international’s request to enter talks with the MLS side, are expected to receive €7m from the deal. Shaqiri was signed for €6m plus €5m in bonuses (which have not been reached) in the summer.
The former Bayern Munich and Liverpool man leaves Ligue 1 after a difficult six months, with one of his highlights being the goal and assist to complete a comeback against Marseille earlier this week.
