Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, OGC Nice central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin discussed his poor form and the club’s continued slump.
“Of course it annoys me and upsets me. Everyone can see that. But I am happy to have this reaction. If this was not the case, I would be asking myself questions and wondering if I was still a competitor. The coach makes his choices, I have to accept them. I think that my performances against Marseille and Metz showed that I am fighting and I am still there… [I] want to return to the starting XI as quickly as possible. You can ask my wife: I am grumpy at home because I am not playing. I am a bit more grumpy than usual. I hope that this will change quickly.”
“For the moment, I am sure that these were not the ambitions of the club nor my personal ambitions. I did not come here to do 6 months or a year: I came for the medium, long term. I hope that we will finish this season well. I am my first critic. With all the respect that I have for you, I know how to analyse my matches. I knew that when I arrived here, when everything was going well, I would be praised, and that is what happened up until November. At the same time, I knew that if things went less well, I was going to be one of the first in the line of fire. When the results will be better, people will see things differently. But I know very well that individually and collectively, we need to do better.”
