As reported by Ouest France, Lorient coach Christophe Pelissier’s future is in flux despite securing the club’s Ligue 1 status for another season with a 0-0 draw at Bordeaux on Saturday, which all be relegated Les Girondins. Pelissier explained after the game that he’s keen to continue with FCL:

“I’m under contract until 2024. Our objective has been achieved. We know that there will be four relegations next season, which will be very difficult. We have to prepare for this… I have the will to continue, of course. We’ll sit around the table and we’ll see what the will of the club is. On my side, things are decided, but you never know what the leaders could decide. I can’t answer for them.”

Club president Loïc Féry, however, was evasive when asked about Pelissier’s future, preferring to “savour” his “happiness” at the club’s survival. Pelissier’s reportedly difficult relationship with sporting director Christophe Le Roux and Lorient’s run of 15 games in the winter without a win, and barely scraping their points together besides, after a promising start to the season, both count against him. His sacking, however, would cost the club up to €3m.
