Amiens President Bernard Joannin appeared to blame the Lille fans in the post-match press conference:
“Imagine 500 Lille fans wanting to run get onto the pitch… all pushing a barrier down that was in perfect condition. The league will have their investigation, but it was in perfect condition.”
Lille CEO Marc Ingla has hit back on social media site Twitter this evening:
“The Amiens President’s words seem irresponsible and insensitive given the nature of this dramatic situation.”
More undoubtedly to follow in the coming hours on this developing story.
