CM Punk returned to his hometown of Chicago, IL this Saturday night for his second professional fight, opening the first ever UFC pay-per-view at the windy city’s famous United Center.
The good news? The former WWE Champion lasted far better than his debut fight, where he was knocked out by Mickey Gall (4-1) two minutes into the first round. The Chicago crowd was fired up, with massive “CM PUNK!” chants before the bout and into the first round. The bad news? Punk ultimately suffered another defeat at the hands of Mike Jackson, this time by unanimous decision after going the distance in a traditional three-round contest.
It was not a pretty fight, as you can see by some of the videos below. After a feeling out process in the opening minutes, Punk may have actually won the first round with a nice takedown and some solid strikes. Jackson completely dominated the second round despite Punk being in guard position, and at one point almost seemed like he was toying with his opponent.

Punk just spent about 4 straight minutes being punched in the face, over and over, and still got up for the third round. This is not pretty. #UFC225 pic.twitter.com/bgKqJWwMDt

It’s over folks. Mike Jackson 30-26 over CM Punk by unanimous decision. You can’t question the heart of the hometown boy though. He took a hellacious beating. #UFC225 pic.twitter.com/U9Sr4nE7ra

Say what you will, but I couldn’t have taken this beating and gotten back up, much less paid respect to my opponent after the fight. Well fought, Punk. #UFC225 pic.twitter.com/HSD5a5DgTr
