New Japan Pro-Wrestling returns to historic Ryogoku Sumo Hall for King of Pro-Wrestling on Monday, October 14 for one of their biggest annual events.

We already know that Will Ospreay will defend his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Bullet Club’s El Phantasmo at that event, after the newcomer defeated the “Aerial Assassin” on multiple occasions, including the recent Super J-Cup tournament in the U.S.

ELP had an opportunity to speak with members of the media following Sunday’s NJPW Destruction in Kobe event, where he teamed up with a crew of Bullet Club members to take on a team of CHAOS stars in an action packed 10-man tag team match. Check out his full comments:

“Ryogoku Sumo Hall. King of Pro-Wrestling. I finally get my IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship match. Six months ago I debuted in New Japan. In those six months I won my debut by pinning Will Ospreay, and then I went on to main event Korakuen Hall and I beat Will Ospreay. Then me and Ishimori won the tag team championships on our first try, and we successfully defended them against Will Ospreay and Robbie Eagles. And Super J-Cup? I pinned Will Ospreay and Dragon Lee in the same night to win. I pinned the current and former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion in the same night. I beat the current and the former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champions in the same night.”

“October 14, I am going to complete the greatest six month debut run of any single NJPW junior in history. A lot of people don’t think I’m a good wrestler, because I keep ‘cheating to win’ and I keep relying on Bullet Club – which is fair. So I’m going to make this promise right now: Will, we’re gonna have a classic pro-wrestling match. No interference, no shenanigans, no low blows. Two of the very best junior heavyweights on this planet today, going to war for the most prestigious junior heavyweight championship of all time.”

“I got here by being one of the very best high-flyers in Europe. Before that I was one of the very best high-flyers in Canada. On October 14 at King of Pro-Wrestling, I’m going to prove to all the doubters, and to Will Ospreay that there’s three things certain in life – number one, you die; number two, you pay your taxes; number three, El Phantasmo always beats Will Ospreay.”
